Join the community for the GSSM's 5K Race for Mental Health Awareness on Saturday, February 15, 2025, in Hartsville, Darlington! This exciting event kicks off at 9:00 AM at GSSM, located at 401 Railroad Ave, and is designed to promote mental health awareness while supporting a great cause. Participants of all ages can register online or in person, with early registration fees at just $25 until January 29th, and $30 thereafter. Children aged 10 and under can join for free!
This year's race, facilitated by the student organization FWD (Fun Without Drugs), aims to foster healthy lifestyles and reduce vulnerability to substance abuse. Proceeds from the event will benefit Night to Shine, a special prom experience for individuals aged 14 and older with special needs. Runners and walkers will compete for awards in various age groups, with top overall male and female finishers recognized. Organiser's Description
Participants may register online or in person at GSSM. The race is facilitated by FWD. FWD stands for Fun Without Drugs, a student organization designed to promote healthy, balanced lifestyles while reducing a student's vulnerability to substance abuse. FWD sponsors student and community activities aimed at strengthening school pride, creating bonds among the student body, and creating a support system. FWD encourages activities including raising mental health awareness, empathy, social and emotional intelligence, and overall wellbeing. Each year FWD hosts the GSSM 5K for Mental Health race to raise awareness about mental health. Proceeds from this years race will go to Night to Shine in Hartsville, a prom experience for persons 14 and older with special needs.
