THE SECOND ANNUAL _MEMORIAL DAY MILE_ IS IN ALIGNMENT WITH A NATIONAL MOVEMENT AFOOT - TO _BRING BACK THE MILE - AMERICA'S DISTANCE_ (1-2). THE EVENT ALSO ACKNOWLEDGES OUR FALLEN SERVICE MEMBERS ON MEMORIAL DAY FOR THEIR SACRIFICE IN PROTECTING THE UNITED STATES
THIS YEAR'S EVENT WILL HAVE THE EXTRA EXCITEMENT FOR BEING SELECTED BY THE ROAD RUNNERS CLUB OF AMERICA (RRCA) TO BE THE SITE FOR THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE 1 MILE RACE DISTANCE, AS NOTED BY RRCA (3).
THE RACE COURSE IS THE SAME AS LAST YEAR'S EVENT, FLAT, CERTIFIED (AND THEREFORE ELIGIBLE FOR SETTING RECORDS), AND WILL BEGIN IN GROUPS (WAVES) BASED ON RUNNERS' ESTIMATED FINISH TIMES.
