Join us for the Hearts of Gold Classic 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the beautiful Ben Geren Regional Park in Fort Smith, Sebastian! This uplifting holiday event is not just about running; it’s a celebration of community spirit and compassion, benefiting Project Compassion's Hearts of Gold Christmas gifts program for nursing home residents who may be without friends and family.
Participants can enjoy a festive atmosphere, complete with opportunities to wear Santa hats, reindeer antlers, and even ugly sweaters! The event features a timed 5K race with medals awarded to the top three finishers in each category, along with finisher medals for all participants. Don’t forget to bring new, non-skid socks to donate to nursing home residents as a tribute to the late Dr. Eric J. Stein, a beloved community advocate for the elderly and a champion of joy and care. Early packet pickup is available on December 5th at True Grit Running Company from 10 AM to 6 PM, so make sure to register by November 21 to secure your t-shirt size. Come out, have fun, and help us honor Dr. Stein while supporting a wonderful cause!

_THIS EVENT IS CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF DR. ERIC J. STEIN_. He was a champion for the elderly, and for pets - especially dogs. He was an ambassador of cheer, humor, and encouragement everywhere he went, a courageous advocate for the less fortunate, a passionate Board member for Project Compassion, and a loyal, life-long friend to those lucky enough to know him. He adored his family. He was an outstanding optometrist who truly enjoyed treating his patients. He also loved Hearts of Gold! Come out, have fun, and help us celebrate a life well lived. The Stein family is grateful for all who support this event in honor of Eric and they ask everyone to remember residents in long term care at the holidays and everyday.
