Join us for the 8th Annual "Hoofin' It For Horses" 5k Trail Run/Walk on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, at the stunning Castle Rock Farm in Afton, Albemarle. This exciting event invites participants of all fitness levels to enjoy a scenic trail run or leisurely walk while supporting a great cause—Hope's Legacy Equine Rescue. Since 2008, this dedicated charity has been rescuing horses and donkeys, and your participation will directly benefit these beautiful animals.
Whether you choose to join us in person on race day or opt for a virtual experience at your convenience, there’s a perfect way for everyone to get involved. After the race, stick around for a lively Open House from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, where you can meet the horses, shop at the tack sale, and engage in educational programs. Don’t forget to wear your favorite costume for some extra fun! Please remember to leave your furry friends at home, as our equine residents can be a bit shy. Come ready to hoof it for a cause and celebrate the spirit of community and compassion!

Come and join Hope's Legacy Equine Rescue's 8th Annual 5k trail run/walk! Participants will experience the beautiful terrain of Castle Rock Farm, the home of Hope's Legacy Equine Rescue. This race welcomes participants of all fitness levels from walkers to the more experienced runners. All registration fees will directly benefit the horses and donkeys of Hope's Legacy, a 501(c)(3) charity that's been rescuing equines since 2008.
There are now two ways to Hoof It: Virtually - at your convenience and your location. Or join us at Castle Rock Farm on Race Day.
Hopes Legacy will be holding a public Open House from 10:00 AM - 2PM following the Hoofin It For Horses run. Runners are welcome to stay on the property, meet and learn about our 4-legged friends, and take advantage of the tack sale and educational programs.
All participants are encouraged to wear costumes for the race!
Please leave your four legged companions at home; dogs can stress out and scare our horses. The course is hilly, making participation with a stroller difficult.
