While it's great that more providers are interested in this space, it can create confusing "wild west" for patients. Many are seeking help from these "specialists" only to find their care is limited to one organ system or a surgical approach, leaving the complexities of chronic pain unaddressed. By shifting the focus, we can provide: A Patient Toolkit: Tangible "red flags" and specific questions patients can use to vet a providers expertise in chronic pelvic pain. A Clinical Roadmap: Guidance for health professionals on how to move beyond a "generalist" or "surgeon" lens to become a true specialist by staying up-to-date with IPPS multidisciplinary standards.
