Join us for the 17th annual Jack Settles Deerfly Stomp on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in the beautiful Stevensville, Berrien! This unique and entertaining event invites participants to engage in a quirky 5k run through the scenic yet deerfly-infested woods of Grand Mere State Park. Get ready for a day filled with laughter and camaraderie as you attempt to catch the most deer flies with your Tred-Not Deerfly Patch—don’t forget to bring your hat!
While this is not a timed event, the competition is fierce for the title of top STOMPER, with prizes awarded to the top three fly-catching champions! Over the past 16 years, the Deerfly Stomp has not only provided endless fun but has also raised over $14,000 for the Alzheimer's Association, making it a meaningful way to contribute to a critical cause. Join us for a fantastic day of fun, awareness, and community spirit as we work together to STOMP out Alzheimer's!

5kish run through Deerfly infested woods of Grand Mere State Park. Catch deer flies with a Tred- Not Deerfly Patch & raise $$$ to help fight Alzheimer's disease.
Catch deer flies with a Tred- Not Deerfly Patch (on your hat...BRING A HAT!!!) & raise $$$ to help fight Alzheimer's disease. Although we hope your time flies with us (see what I did there?), _THIS IS NOT A TIMED EVENT_.
The winner is the STOMPER who _CATCHES THE MOST NUMBER OF DEER FLIES_. Yes, we will actually count the deer flies. Rules? There's not a lot of rules...the "Dee Berry" rule (you can't steal somebody else's patch) is the only real rule. Prizes to top 3 STOMPERS!
FYI THIS IS YEAR 17 OF THE JACK SETTLES DEERFLY STOMP!!! (PLUS A FEW YEARS OF INFORMAL STOMPING...) OVER THE PAST 16 YEARS WE HAVE CAUGHT APPROXIMATELY 3500 DEERFLIES (PLUS AT LEAST 1 HORSEFLY...GRRRR) AND DONATED OVER $14,000 TO THE ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION!

1 IN 3 Seniors dies with Alzheimer's or another dementia.
It kills more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined.
The lifetime risk for Alzheimer's at age 45 is 1 in 5 for women and 1 in 10 for men.
Alzheimer's disease was the fifth-leading cause of death among people age 65 and older in 2021.
