Get ready for the Lafayette Res Run for Education, a vibrant and community-driven event taking place from October 10 to October 18, 2026, in the heart of Lafayette, Contra Costa! The main event will culminate on Sunday, October 18, featuring exhilarating races including a 5K at 8 AM, a 10K at 8:15 AM, and a fun 2-mile run/walk at 8:45 AM. This year's run promises to be a fantastic family affair, welcoming participants of all ages—from serious runners to casual walkers and even the beloved four-legged friends!
In addition to the in-person races, don’t miss the opportunity to participate in the Reservoir Challenge, a virtual 2.7-mile race that can be completed anytime between October 10-17. This unique challenge allows runners to enjoy the scenic paved trails around the Lafayette Reservoir at their own pace. Not only is this event a tremendous way to stay active, but it also supports local schools and community programs, with a significant portion of the proceeds going back to educational initiatives. Join in the fun, support a great cause, and experience the joy of running in Lafayette this October!

ABOUT THE LAFAYETTE RES RUN FOR EDUCATION
The Lafayette Chamber [https://lafayettechamber.org] and the City of Lafayette [https://www.lovelafayette.org/] are co-sponsors of the Lafayette Res Run for Education which is traditionally held the third Sunday in October.
THE 2026 LAFAYETTE RES RUN FOR EDUCATION WILL BE HELD SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18. 5K: 8AM, 10K: 8:15AM, 2 MILE: 8:45AM IN DOWNTOWN LAFAYETTE, CA.
Back by popular demand, from its introduction in 2020, you can register for the RESERVOIR CHALLENGE the virtual race which runs around the 2.7-mile paved trail of the Lafayette Reservoir October 10-17. Please note, the Reservoir Challenge is not an option on Sunday, October 18 as the Reservoir will be closed for the 10K runners. The Reservoir Challenge is great opportunity to safely walk or run the Reservoir on your own, perhaps beating your time from last year.
Beneficiaries of the event are the local schools and the services and programs of the Chamber. See below for what we gave back to our schools last year!
The Run is the citys most popular family affair, involving kids, parents, grandparents, and hundreds of serious runners from throughout the Bay Area. Join us in 2025 for the 10k, 5k, the 2 mile run/walk for fun or the Reservoir Challenge! Sprinters, walkers, the stroller brigade and many of Lafayettes top four legged residents are welcome to join in the fun.
