Join us for the 2nd Annual Leah's Legacy event on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in beautiful Charleston, Kanawha! This uplifting occasion will feature a 5K run, a 2-mile walk, and a Kids Fun Run, kicking off at 5:00 PM from the Charleston City Center (Slack Plaza). Last year, nearly 500 participants came together to honor the vibrant spirit of Leah Strickland, a passionate athlete whose legacy continues to inspire.
The race will take participants along a scenic route through the boulevard before returning to the starting point at Slack Plaza. Celebrate Leah's competitive spirit and team-first attitude while competing for awards across various categories, including overall male and female winners, masters divisions, age groups, and even team awards for the fastest co-ed adult teams. Join us for a day of camaraderie, purpose, and fun as we support the Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to senior athletes who exemplify Leah's remarkable character. The Strickland Family is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Leahs Legacy 5KRun/2 Mile Walk/Kids Fun Run on Sunday, Sept 21, 2025, at 5:00 pm. Last year we had close to 500 participants and look forward to a bigger/better Celebration in 2025!
The event will start at Charleston City Center (Slack Plaza), proceed towards the boulevard, and end back at Charleston City Center (Slack Plaza). Leah Strickland was active in multiple sports and very competitive with a team first, ALL IN attitude. She encouraged her teammates and put the best interests of her team and teammates before her own. On August 31, 2022, a few weeks into her freshman season she lost her life in a car accident while coming home from a soccer game. The Strickland Family chose to honor Leahs memory, character, and love of athletics by establishing a Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund provides scholarships for Senior Athletes who embody those same characteristics.
