Get ready for a fun-filled day at the Lions on the Leon Captain "D" Dash for "Sight" 5K Fun Run/Walk happening on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026, at Heritage Park in Belton, Texas! This exciting event kicks off at 8:30 AM from the Lions Pavilion and takes participants on a scenic route down Park Avenue, leading back along the beautiful trail by the baseball fields and the Leon River. With four water stations and delicious race snacks awaiting you on your return, it's the perfect blend of fitness and fun.

This timed event, managed by Pro-Fit Race Timing, offers awards for the top overall male and female finishers, as well as for the top three finishers in various age categories, making it an excellent opportunity for runners of all levels. Participants can join in the festive atmosphere by dressing in pirate costumes to compete for special costume awards! Each registered participant will receive a Swag Pirates Booty Bag, a custom spinner race medal, and a pair of event sunglasses (while supplies last). LIONS on the Leon Captain "D" Dash for Sight 5K Fun Run/Walk 2026 is scheduled for Saturday, October 3rd, Heritage Park in Belton, Texas - hosted by the Belton Lions Club!

The run/walk will begin at 8:30am, starting at the Lions Pavilion, proceeding out and down Park Avenue, returning along Park Avenue to the trail around the baseball fields and along the Leon River; ending at Lions Pavilion. There will be four (4) water stations; and race snacks on return.

THIS IS A TIMED EVENT, WITH TIMING BY PRO-FIT RACE TIMING.
Award Categories:
Awards are given to the top overall male and female finishers and the top three male/female finishers in each age group. No duplicate awards.
Age groups: 11&U, 12-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+
Costume Awards Four (4) Awards (Peoples Choice)

Every registered 5K participant will receive: Swag Pirates Booty Bag, a Bib Raffle Entry, Custom Spinner Race Medal and Event Sunglasses (while supplies last)

Come in Pirate Costume to compete for an award or come as you are!

Event T-Shirt is guaranteed to full registrations, if registered by September 17th - limited sizes and quantity may be available after that date.

The event will be held rain or shine. No Refunds.

Race day registration and packet pick-up will run from 7:00 a.m.-7:45 a.m. on race day at the race site. Registration is on personal devices (phone, iPad); credit cards only.

PLEASE NOTE: ROADBLOCKS WILL BE SET IN PLACE AT 8:15AM FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE RUNNERS AND WALKERS AND WILL STAY IN PLACE UNTIL RUNNERS AND WALKERS HAVE RETURNED. PLEASE PLAN TO ARRIVE EARLY; AND PLEASE PLAN TO STAY UNTIL ROADBLOCKS ARE REMOVED.

Each Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, Belton Lions partner with Friends for Life to provide Food Baskets to under-served families of Children with Special Needs. At Christmastime, Belton Lions provides Pictures with Santa for the Bell County families of children with Special Needs, partnering with Friends for Life. Belton Lions Serve Youth. Our community projects support local children and schools through Scholarships for Belton High graduates. The Club partners with BISD to help Project HEARTBEAT by providing Christmas for students and their siblings in the homeless program. The Belton Lions Club supports Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, Texas. The primary purpose of the camp is to provide, without charge, a camp for physically disabled, hearing/vision impaired and diabetic children. By conducting vision screenings, equipping hospitals and clinics, distributing medicine and raising awareness of eye disease, Lions work toward their mission of providing vision for all. Belton Lions Club participates in the Lions International Eyeglass Recycling Program, which provides eyeglasses for many needy individuals in developing nations. On a local level, Belton Lions Club works with Belton Independent School District health care professionals to provide free eye exams for local youth in need.
