Get ready for a fantastic day of fun and community spirit at the Lions on the Leon Captain "D" Dash for "Sight" 5K Fun Run/Walk! Scheduled for Saturday, October 4th, 2025, this exciting event will take place in beautiful Belton, Texas, starting at 8:30 AM. Participants will embark on a scenic route through the neighborhood, covering close to 3.11 miles, beginning and ending at the Heritage Park parking lot near the soccer fields.

This is a non-timed event, perfect for all ages and abilities, so whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun way to be active, come join us! Dress up in your best pirate costume for a chance to win an award, or simply come as you are. Every registered participant will receive a custom commemorative spinner race medal and event sunglasses! After the run/walk, stick around for the Picnic in the Park, featuring live music, delicious food, exciting carnival games, and the Wacky Open and Cardboard Boat Race on the Leon River. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to enjoy a day filled with laughter, family fun, and community engagement!

LIONS ON THE LEON CAPTAIN "D" DASH FOR SIGHT 5K FUN RUN/WALK is coming up Saturday, October 4th, hosted by the Belton Lions Club! Check out the photos from 2024 on facebook: Lions on the Leon-Wacky Boat Race/Picnic in the Park! Fun Run/Walk map is posted in photos.

The run/walk will begin at 8:30am, starting at the parking lot by the soccer fields, proceeding down Park Avenue, then circling through the neighborhood, returning along Park Avenue back to the Heritage Park parking lot.

This is not a timed event, but it is very close to a 5K (3.11 mile). We were unable to be included in the timed race series in 2025 because they already had two (2) races in October. We have our swords crossed that we are accepted into the Cen-Tex Race Series for 2026._

Every registered 5K participant will receive a CUSTOM COMMEMORATIVE SPINNER RACE MEDAL & EVENT "SUNGLASSES".
_Come in PIRATE COSTUME to compete for an award or come as you are!
_Each entrant will receive a SWAG "BOOTY" BAG; and will be entered into a BIB RAFFLE.

EVENT T-SHIRT is guaranteed if registered by September 12th (deadline extended) - limited sizes and quantity may be available after that date.

The 5K is the kick-off event for the LIONS ON THE LEON. The Fun Run/Walk will end at PICNIC IN THE PARK, for you to enjoy the music by JAY WHITE AND THE BLUES COMMANDERS, hot dog and sausage wrap concessions, artisan and craft vendors, pumpkin decorating, face painting, Quacky duck pond, carnival games, raffle/auction and the WACKY OPEN AND CARDBOARD BOAT Race on the Leon River. People's Choice boat judging begins at 11am. Race Heats start at 1:00pm. _Bring the family and enjoy a day of fun in Heritage Park along the Leon River in Belton, Texas. _

The event will be held rain or shine. No Refunds.

$20.00 discount student registration (16 and under)
On-Site Registration: $35.00 Adults / $25.00 Students (16 and under)
ONLINE REGISTRATION OPENS MONDAY, JULY 21ST ENDS WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 1ST.
Run/Walk day registration from 7:00am - 8:00am in the Parking lot by the soccer fields.

Belton Lions Club was chartered in 1939. From building and helping maintain Lions Pavilion in Heritage Park to helping assemble equipment at Chisholm Trail Park, Belton Lions are committed to enhancing the quality of life for area residents. The Belton Lions Club installed a Special Needs Playground at Heritage Park in Belton. Each Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, Belton Lions partner with Friends for Life to provide Food Baskets to under-served families of Children with Special Needs. At Christmastime, Belton Lions provides Pictures with Santa for the Bell County families of children with Special Needs, partnering with Friends for Life. Belton Lions Serve Youth. Our community projects support local children and schools through Scholarships for Belton High graduates. The Club partners with BISD to help Project HEARTBEAT by providing Christmas for students and their siblings in the homeless program. The Belton Lions Club supports Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, Texas. The primary purpose of the camp is to provide, without charge, a camp for physically disabled, hearing/vision impaired and diabetic children. By conducting vision screenings, equipping hospitals and clinics, distributing medicine and raising awareness of eye disease, Lions work toward their mission of providing vision for all. Belton Lions Club participates in the Lions International Eyeglass Recycling Program, which provides eyeglasses for many needy individuals in developing nations. On a local level, Belton Lions Club works with Belton Independent School District health care professionals to provide free eye exams for local youth in need.
