Organiser's Description

Ridge Runners Racing proudly presents the 2nd Annual Little Rooster Kids Fun Run, 5K Trail and Mini Barnyard Ultra Trail. The event will take place on Friday, October 16, 2026 at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds and Park in Glencoe, Kentucky. Nestled between interstates I-71 and I-75, this quaint rural farming community is easily accessible from Cincinnati (30 minutes), Lexington (45 minutes), and Louisville (60 minutes). Visitors will feel as if theyve stepped back in time as they enjoy the small town vibe Glencoe has to offer. Plan on making it a runcation and check out the many accommodations and attractions within minutes of the event site. The Little Rooster Kids Fun Run 1/2 mile will be offered for kids 10 & under at 5:30 PM, so plan on bringing the kids to join in the fun! A 5K trail race will follow at 6:00 PM. Walkers are welcome as this race has a generous 2 hour cut-off. The Mini Barnyard Ultra Trail starts at 8:00 PM and is a last runner standing event. Last year the race lasted 14 hours before Chris Emberton of Elizabethtown, KY was declared the winner after completing 28 laps (58.33 miles).

    The Little Rooster Run Kids Fun Run will be a 1/2 mile (800 M) mostly grass cross country style course utilizing the paved walking path at the front of the facility. All kids will receive a shirt with their entry and a participation award at the finish line. Family & Friends are encouraged to join their runner(s) free of charge.* *only registered runners will receive an event shirt and finisher award.

    The Little Rooster Run 5K Trail race is held prior to the Little Rooster Run Mini Barnyard Ultra. Participants are encouraged to hang out afterward to encourage runners in the ultra event. 5K Trail runners will toe the line on Friday, October 16 for a 6:00 PM start. Headlamps and appropriate weather gear are recommended. All finishers will receive a special memento at the end of the finish chute. An Awards Ceremony recognizing overall winners and age group winners for both male and female participants will take place at the awards stage shortly after the completion of the 5K Trail race in front of the Pavilion located on the left side of the main entrance to the fairgrounds. Only registered 5K Trail runners are permitted on the course during the Little Rooster Run 5K Trail race.
  • Little Rooster Run Mini Barnyard Ultra Trail

    The Little Rooster Run Mini Barnyard Ultra is a last runner standing format trail ultra. Runners traverse a 2.083 mile lap course on the half-hour until there is only one runner left, who must then complete a victory lap within the 30 minute time limit to finish and be declared Champion. The Gallatin County Fairgrounds and Park will reopen to the public on Tuesday, October 20 at 6:00 AM. If any runners are still on course the event will continue but with limited event staff. The Mini Barnyard Ultra will take off on Friday, October 17 at 8:00 PM. Headlamps are required and appropriate weather gear is recommended. Trekking poles are optional. The race will continue until only one runner remains who must complete a victory lap within the 30 minute time limit to be declared a finisher and ,therefore, WINNER of the Mini Barnyard Ultra. All other participants will be categorized as DNF, meaning DID NOT FINISH and will be memorialized on our Wall of Shame. Should there be only a single registrant in either the male or female category, that runner must complete the first lap within the 30 minute time limit, be in the corral on time then complete a victory lap within the 30 minute time limit to be declared the winner (they may choose to remain in the race if desired for as long as they satisfy the requirements). An awards ceremony for the winner will be held take place shortly after a winner is declared at the Pavilion located to the left of the main entrance to the fairgrounds. Only registered runners in the ultra are permitted on the course during the Little Rooster Run Mini Barnyard Ultra.
