Get ready for an exhilarating evening at the Longest Night Mile on Sunday, December 21st, 2025, taking place at the Phoenix High School Track in Jackson! This unique running event promises to bring together athletes of all levels for a night filled with fun and community spirit. The race features multiple heats, catering to various paces, starting with Heat 1 at 6:15 PM for those running 5:45 minutes per mile and under, and continuing through to Heat 5 at 7:05 PM for runners at 11 minutes per mile and above. Participants will race four laps around the track, making this event a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself while supporting a great cause.
Entry into the Longest Night Mile is not just about competition; it also gives back to the community! Runners can choose to contribute by bringing 2-3 boxes of dry cereal for the SOU Student Food Pantry or by paying a registration fee of $13 online or $15 on race day. The top three finishers in each age group will receive ribbons, along with a chance to win a $100 prize for any male who completes the mile in under 4 minutes or any female who finishes in under 4:40 minutes.

COURSE DETAILS: Four times around the Phoenix High School Track
RACE FEES: Option 1: Bring 2-3+ boxes of dry cereal. YES you read that right! The SOU food bank coordinator expressed to us in 2019 that the students are excited when there is cereal in the food bank because there rarely is and when it is there it doesn't last long. So, we thought it would be a fun treat before Christmas to stuff their pantry full of cereal goodness! We also hosted a can food drive at our Turkey Trot for the SOU food bank and a portion of the proceeds went to them as well so don't worry, we made sure they had other food items.
Option 2: $13 online or $15 DAY OF (cash or check only) which will also be donated to the SOU Student Food Pantry.
RACE DAY INFO: Registration 5-6pm - Bring $15 or 2-3+ boxes of dry cereal and sign waiver to participate.
AWARDS: Ribbons for the top 3 places in all age groups. $100 prize for any male who runs sub 4:00 minutes and any female who runs sub 4:40 minutes.
RESTRICTIONS: Absolutely no roller skaters, bicycles, skateboards, baby joggers, dogs, headphones, or unregistered participants
