Join us for the exhilarating Longest Night Mile on Monday, December 21, 2026, at the Phoenix High School Track in Jackson! This exciting event kicks off at 6:15 PM, featuring multiple heats to accommodate runners of all paces, from those hitting the track at under a 5:45-minute mile to those taking it easy at a 11-minute pace or more. Participants will race four times around the track, making this a thrilling evening of competition and community spirit.
Not only will you enjoy the thrill of racing, but you can also give back to the community by bringing 2-3 boxes of dry cereal to donate to the SOU Student Food Pantry. Alternatively, you can register for just $13 online or $15 on the day of the event. With awards for the top three finishers in all age groups and a chance to win a $100 prize for exceptional times, this event promises to be a fantastic way to celebrate the holiday season while supporting a great cause! * 6:15pm- Heat 1 5:45min pace & Under
* 6:25pm- Heat 2 5:46 -7min Pace
* 6:35pm- Heat 3 7-9min Pace
* 6:50pm- Heat 4 9-11min Pace
* 7:05pm- Heat 5 11min Pace & Up
COURSE DETAILS: Four times around the Phoenix High School Track
RACE FEES: Option 1: Bring 2-3+ boxes of dry cereal. YES you read that right! The SOU food bank coordinator expressed to us in 2019 that the students are excited when there is cereal in the food bank because there rarely is and when it is there it doesn't last long. So, we thought it would be a fun treat before Christmas to stuff their pantry full of cereal goodness! We also hosted a can food drive at our Turkey Trot for the SOU food bank and a portion of the proceeds went to them as well so don't worry, we made sure they had other food items.
Option 2: $13 online or $15 DAY OF (cash or check only) which will also be donated to the SOU Student Food Pantry.
RACE DAY INFO: Registration 5-6pm - Bring $15 or 2-3+ boxes of dry cereal and sign waiver to participate.
AWARDS: Ribbons for the top 3 places in all age groups. $100 prize for any male who runs sub 4:00 minutes and any female who runs sub 4:40 minutes.
RESTRICTIONS: Absolutely no roller skaters, bicycles, skateboards, baby joggers, dogs, headphones, or unregistered participants
