As part of a national movement to "Bring Back the Mile," this year’s race has the added thrill of being selected as the National Championship for the 1-mile distance by the Road Runners Club of America. The flat, USATF certified course promises a fast and fun experience for runners of all levels, with participants starting in groups based on their estimated finish times. THE SECOND ANNUAL _MEMORIAL DAY MILE_, A GREENVILLE TRACK CLUB EVENT, IS IN GOOD ALIGNMENT WITH A NATIONAL MOVEMENT AFOOT - TO _BRING BACK THE MILE - AMERICA'S DISTANCE_ (1-2). THE EVENT ALSO ACKNOWLEDGES OUR FALLEN SERVICE MEMBERS ON MEMORIAL DAY FOR THEIR SACRIFICE IN PROTECTING THE UNITED STATES.
THIS YEAR'S EVENT HAS THE EXTRA EXCITEMENT FOR BEING SELECTED BY THE ROAD RUNNERS CLUB OF AMERICA (RRCA) TO BE THE SITE FOR THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE 1 MILE RACE DISTANCE, AS NOTED BY RRCA (3).
THE RACE COURSE IS THE SAME AS LAST YEAR'S EVENT, FLAT, USATF CERTIFIED, AND WILL BEGIN IN GROUPS BASED ON RUNNERS' ESTIMATED FINISH TIMES.
