Get ready to kick off the New Year with a bang at the Midnight Special 5K in Toledo, Ohio! This exciting event takes place on December 31, 2025, at the Patron Saints Brewery, starting at 11:45 PM. As a unique New Year's Eve tradition, this chip-timed 5K invites runners to embrace the thrill of racing into the new year with a fun twist—it's a race that takes "Two Years to Finish!" (unless you can dash faster than a five-minute mile, then it only takes a year!).
The picturesque course will take you along the University Parks Trail, offering a safe, out-and-back route without road crossings. While the course is not lit, participants are encouraged to wear lights for visibility. The first 160 registrants will receive a handy TRRC headlamp, and the first 150 finishers will take home a commemorative pint glass. Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to enjoy snacks and beverages post-race, with adult drinks available for the 21+ crowd and homemade root beer for younger participants. MIDNIGHT SPECIAL 5K
A Northwestern Ohio New Year's Eve Tradition! Run in the New Year with a race that takes "Two Years to Finish!" (unless you run faster than a 5 minute mile, then it only takes one year!) A 5K race that starts on New Year's Eve at 11:45 PM.
LOCATION: Patron Saints Brewery. The course is out and back along the University Parks Trail. Starting in the back parking lot of Patron Saints, running up to the UP Trail then west towards Wildwood Metropark and back via the same route. We will not be crossing any roads but please be aware of vehicles in Patron Saint's parking lot. The course is not lit, please wear lights. There will be small ground lights for course direction only.
Cost: 5K ~ $40 TRRC Members receive a $5.00 discount (at checkout) $5 Price increase December 23, 2025 $55 to run with us Virtually (includes shipping costs) $40 to run with us Virtually (no shipping - must pick up packet at early pickup)
Awards: Overall Male & Overall Female, Overall Masters Male & Female No age group awards. Non-binary category is not eligible for awards.

THIS IS A CHIP TIMED EVENT. There will be no water stops along the course. Water and snacks will be provided at the finish along with other goodies. Feel free to bring your own food and hang out afterwards. Adult beverages will be available for purchase from Patron Saints. ID required. For those under 21, Patron Saints has homemade root beer for purchase.
Early packet pick up and late registration Tuesday Dec 30th 3 pm - 5:45 pm Second Sole, Levis Commons, Perrysburg. Race day packet pickup starts at 10:30 pm and will close at 11:30 pm.
