Organiser's Description
Montvale Park is a great setting for a park. In Bedford County the park is just behind the Montvale Elementary School off of HWY 460. New Directions to the Park To get to the parks parking lot you will want to turn off of HWY 460 just before (from the west) and just after (from the east) the Montvale Elementary School. Turn onto Marketplace and head to the end of the turnaround. This will lead you to the gravel road into the Park Entrance. We will be staging the race from under the pavilion. Make sure you carpool when you can and park closely to the person next to you. The park doesnt have unlimited parking.
There is also another way to access the park off of Quarterwood Road (across from the BP gas station). The gravel parking lot will be approximately 1.5 miles on your left.
Montvale park is a 6.5 mile trail system that winds through old growth forest. It is a very nice and scenic trail system.

OPENS 16 DEC5 Mile Course The course will start after the creek crossing on the Creekside Trail. This year you will be headed towards Cliffhanger to start. Cliffhanger to a left on to Soggy Bottom Left to the Access Road Left onto Beales Treasure Right on to Ridgeline Right on to Coyote Ridge Left onto Cliffhanger Cliffhanger back to the Creek Over/through the creek to the finish at the pavilion. -

OPENS 16 DECOur Virtual events are setup for you to be a part of the series without having to be present since there are so many layers to the Covid era of activities. This is a run anywhere option, that counts as one of the RNUTS qualifying races. In addition, you will get the race shirt until 2/3/26, after that, all registrants will get a Mountain Junkies LLC Socks or Hoo Rag (similar to a Buff). -

OPENS 16 DEC8.4 Mile Course this year will be in the same direction as 2023 The course will start near the pavilion, taking a grassy path towards the Middle School, down the gravel road towards the baseball field, through the field, back around to the asphalt walking path, taking a left towards the creek, crossing the creek and to Yellow Drum to start. Yellow Drum to a right onto Cliffhanger Cliffhanger to a left on to Soggy Bottom Left to the Access Road Left on to Beales Treasure Left on to Easy Street Water Stop at the Gravel Parking Lot Continue on Easy Street Left on to Ridgeline Ridgeline to a right onto Coyote Ridge Left on to Cliffhanger Cliffhanger to a left onto Yellow Drum Yellow Drum back to the Creek Over/through the Creek to the finish at the pavilion. Approximately 8.4 Miles (mileage measured by bike odometer, GPS will come up around 7.75 miles) -
