The day kicks off with registration at 7:00 a.m. for the Pump-n-Run at Anytime Fitness, followed by the 10:30 a.m. registration at the Elkins/Randolph County Y.M.C.A. The races will officially start at 12:30 p.m., with a special Kids Run at 12:45 p.m., offering a free 1-mile challenge for children aged 10 and under. Participants can compete for trophies in various age divisions, making this a perfect opportunity to showcase your running skills while enjoying the beautiful fall scenery. ABOUT THE MOUNTAIN STATE FOREST FESTIVAL
2026 marks the 88th year of the Mountain State Forest Festival, one of the largest and oldest festivals in West Virginia. The Mountain State Forest Festival promotes the beauty and splendor of the West Virginia mountains and plays a major role in our local and state economy. This year's festival, with the theme of Autumn in Color, includes nightly live music and entertainment in the beautiful downtown amphitheater, a lumberjack competition, forestry and wood exhibits, juried art show, photography exhibit, quilt show, arts and crafts, amusement rides, three parades, and the Royal Coronation of Queen Silvia.

If you like to run and lift, here's a new event to test your skill at both. The Pump N Run will consist of a weigh-in, bench press a percentage (see below) of your body weight for as many reps as you can (max 30 reps and reps HAVE TO BE CONSECUTIVE), and then a 5K race. For each rep completed, a 30 second deduction will be taken from your 5K time. A maximum of 30 reps (15 minutes) can be deducted from the run. Registration for the Pump begins at 7:00 AM at Anytime Fitness 46 Plantation Drive Elkins, WV 26241. The Run will take place with the 10K/5K on Davis Avenue that steps off at 12:30 PM at Elkins/Randolph County YMCA. Male: *Must be 18 or Over* 18-39 = 100% of weight 40-49 = 90% of weight 50-59 = 80% of weight 60 and over = 70% of weight Female: *Must be 18 or over* 18-39 = 70% of weight 40-49 = 60% of weight 50-59 = 50% of weight 60 and over = 40% of weight
