Get ready for an exciting day of competition at the MPRD Youth & Junior Triathlon on June 28, 2026, held at the beautiful Park West Recreation Center in Mt. Pleasant, Charleston! This exhilarating event welcomes young athletes aged 8-17 to showcase their skills in a fun and supportive environment. Participants will dive into a serpentine swim in the newly renovated indoor pool, tackle a thrilling bike ride on safe, coned-off roads, and finish strong with a scenic run along tree-lined paths.
With various race distances tailored for different age groups, young competitors can look forward to a 100M swim, 3-mile bike, and 1K run for ages 8-10; a 200M swim, 6-mile bike, and 2K run for ages 11-14; and a 300M swim, 6-mile bike, and 3K run for ages 15-17. The event kicks off at 7:30 a.m., with packet pick-up available from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers in each category, making this a perfect opportunity to celebrate athletic achievements. JUNE 28, 2026 - TOMPS YOUTH & JUNIOR TRIATHLON RACE, AGE 8-17YO
Back for 2026 with our newly renovated pool facility! The Town of Mount Pleasant invites you to our youth/junior triathlon at Park West Recreation Center. Registered athletes, ages 8-17yo, will swim serpentine style in our 6-lane, indoor swim facility; cycle on adjacent coned-off roads surrounding the complex; and run on our tree-lined paved paths to an exhilarating track lap finish! This is an excellent opportunity for youth athletes of all abilities to experience multisport on a safe, well-monitored course. Awards will be given to the top male and top female in each age group. Athletes will compete based on the age they will be on 12/31/2026.
RACE NOTES
- Race starts at 7:30 a.m.
- Packet pick-up will be held onsite race day 6 a.m.-7 a.m.
- Awards ceremony held onsite post-race.
- Bibs and helmets are required.
- Water stations will be set up on the course.
- Bikes should be race-ready with inflated tires, working brakes, and greased chain. Emergency bike repair will be offered onsite.
