WHAT
Formerly the Ford Elementary Jingle Jog - we are now introducing the inaugural spring Mustang Madness 5K and Fun Run! This race is a fundraising event to benefit the Ford Elementary School Foundation. The Ford Elementary School Foundation (FESF) established in 2005, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing enhanced educational opportunities that otherwise would not be a part of the Ford Elementary School instructional program. These additional educational opportunities can only be funded through Foundation efforts, and not through the Cobb County Board of Education or our PTA. EVENT DETAILS
The 5K will be on Saturday, March 1st and begin and end in the Bus Port at Ford Elementary School (1345 Mars Hill Rd. Acworth, GA 30101). The race will kick off with a 1K fun run at 7:45am followed by a timed 5K beginning at 8:00 am.
COURSE
The course is an out and back loop with rolling hills - exiting the Ford Elementary Bus Port, turn right on Mars Hill Rd., turn right on Fords Rd. with turnaround at County Line Road.
AWARDS
Awards will be given the for top 3 finishers of each age category for Male & Female. We will also award the top overall Male & Female winners of the race.
The age categories are Kindergarten-5th grade, Middle School, High School, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and over.
T-SHIRTS
T-shirts are guaranteed to all registrations received prior to February 7th.
PARKING
There will be parking at Ford Elementary School - in the school lots as well as along the car line lanes entering and exiting the school.
WEATHER
The race will happen rain or shine. Be prepared to run in any weather. Only in the cases of extreme weather will changes to the race schedule occur. Please check your email on race morning for real-time updates on the status of the race if there is severe weather.
REGISTRATION
Online registration closes at 11:59 pm on Wednesday, February26th. Race morning registration will be available from 7:00 - 7:40 am in the Ford Cafeteria.
REFUNDS
No refunds or transfers from person-to-person or year-to-year are allowed. While we understand schedules change and things come up, we have a strict no-refund and transfer policy. Race Management reserves the right to cancel or modify the event due to extreme conditions such as weather. Registration fees are not refundable in the event of the race cancellation due to Acts of God" or things outside of the control of the Race Director.
PACKET PICK-UP
Packet pick-up will be held in the Cafeteria on race morning starting at 7am. Some student packets may be available to be sent home with students the Friday prior to the race - details will become available closer to race day for Ford families.
TIMING
This race is a gun-timed event. We will utilize volunteers to record times at the finish line. We do not have sponsorship this year for chip timing, if you are interested in sponsoring this to become a chip-times event - please email [email protected]
WATER STATIONS
There will be one water station on the course at the turnaround site on County Line Rd. Runners are encouraged to bring water bottles with them. Additional water and post-race snacks and pancake breakfast will be available at the finish line.
FIRST AID
In case of an emergency, please immediately notify one of the on-site volunteers or a police officer.
RESTROOMS
Restrooms are available inside the school through the cafeteria entrance.
