What Is Orienteering?
Orienteering is an outdoor navigation sport where you use a detailed map (and optionally a compass) to find checkpoints scattered across the terrain. Its part strategy, part speed, and part explorationa real-world treasure hunt, after dark.
How the Night-O / Search & Destroy-O Works
Phase 1: Night-O (600 PM)
Mass start at 6:00 PM
1-hour time limit
Format: Score-O (find controls in any order)
Goal: Punch as many of the 20 controls as you choose
Scoring:
Each control punched = 1 point
Phase 2: Search & Destroy-O (Starts at 7:00 PM)
Controls are collected and returned
Each control returned = 1 point
Strategy matters: speed, route choice, and teamwork can make the difference.
