New York Paddlesports Championship Race

The inaugural New York Paddlesport State Championship is an exciting event that brings together paddlers from all regions to compete for the coveted title of the best paddler in their discipline. Organized by passionate and motivated members of the New York paddle community, this championship event promises a thrilling day of racing on (mostly) flat water.
Competitors will face a challenging 12-mile race, consisting of two 6 mile laps. While the course is primarily on flat water, participants should be prepared for some powerboat traffic, adding an element of excitement and strategy to the race. To enhance the spectator experience, there will be a short parade loop that takes competitors past the start/finish line, allowing fans to witness the action up close and making the event more enjoyable to watch.
Races taking place in the morning will be C2, K2, C4 and Recreation. Races in the afternoon will be C1, K1, and Pro/Am. This format will allow paddlers to compete in multiple disciplines to get the full race experience. After the main championship events, there will be a shorter 3.5-mile Pro/Am race designed for new and youth paddlers. This provides an excellent opportunity for less experienced participants to get involved in competitive paddlesports. Experienced racers are encouraged to team up with newcomers, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and mentorship within the paddling community.
The event offers a range of competitive categories for participants, and awards will be presented to the top three performers in each category. To be eligible for prizes, a category must have at least three participants for the first-place award, five for the second-place award, and seven for the third-place award. This ensures that recognition and rewards are given to those who demonstrate their skills and dedication to their respective discipline.
