Organiser's Description
Early Packet Pickup is Thursday August 15th from 6:00pm-7:30pm at the Murdock Carrousel Subway (1900 Tamiami Tr. Suite 105). RaceDay Packet Pickup will begin at 6:00am on the morning of the race at the Port Charlotte High School track.
This 5K race is held as a fundraiser to benefit the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams at Port Charlotte High School.
The 5k course is flat and winding, multi-surface, with the start and finish on the paved track. The course includes some grass fields, paved sidewalks, parking, and driveways on and surrounding the Port Charlotte High School campus and the Charlotte County Technical Center.
The 1-mile fun run is intended for kids, but anyone that signs up for the 5K is welcome to run it too (parents are also welcome to run along-side their children). The 1-mile course will follow the final mile of the 5k course around the Port Charlotte High School campus.
Trophies are awarded to the Male and Female Overall, Masters (40+), Grandmaster (50+), Senior Grandmaster (60+), and Veterans (70+).
Medals are awarded to the top 3 in the following age groups: 9 and under, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 and over.
This year's race shirt will be made from a microfiber performance material. Only those runners and walkers that pre-register in the 5K (on or before August 1st) will be guaranteed these shirts. Be sure to sign up early! CLOSEDThis Fun Run is intended for kids, but any parent that wants to run along-side their child or any 5K participants are welcome to join in the fun. The 1-mile fun run will start at 8:15am or as soon as all 5k participants have finished. This event IS NOT OFFICIALLY TIMED, but a hand-timer will be used and ribbons are given to all finishers. Runners and walkers in the 1m fun run may purchase race shirts for an additional $5 until supplies run out.
