Join us for the Reid-y To Swim 5K & Fun Day on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the beautiful Greatest Generation Memorial Park in Thomaston, Upson. This heartfelt community event is dedicated to the memory of sweet toddler Gavin Reid Hansrote, who brought joy to so many. The race kicks off at 8:00 AM, with registration starting at 7:00 AM, and features a scenic, mostly shaded 5K route that begins at the playground and winds through a lovely paved trail.
Not only will participants have the chance to compete for awards in various age groups, but this event also aims to raise funds for local children in need of swim lessons and water safety resources, addressing the critical issue of childhood drowning. With a playground and splash pad for the little ones, it's a perfect family day out! Come celebrate family, community, and the spirit of a wonderful boy while making a difference. Organiser's Description
May 10, 2024 our family tragically lost our sweet toddler, Gavin Reid Hansrote. Our family loves to run, be outside, and Gavin loved to ride his horse scooter. Reid-y To Swim 5K and Fun Day will be in honor of our sweet baby. This community event will be held at Greatest Generation Memorial Park Thomaston, GA. The route will start at the playground and go through the (paved) trail and back. The route is beautiful and mostly shaded. All of the proceeds raised during the race will be donated to local children in need of swim lessons and other water safety resources.
Registration begins at 7:00am
Race begins at 8:00am
Awards to follow. Awards will be given out for the top three runners of each age group.
Age groups are as followed:
15 and younger
16-20
21-29
30-39
40-49
50-59
60 and above
