Join us for the exhilarating "Ride the Lowcountry 2026" event, hosted by Coastal Cyclists on Saturday, April 11th, 2026, in the charming Awendaw area of Charleston! This annual cycling extravaganza invites riders to explore the stunning landscapes of the Lowcountry with a variety of routes to choose from, including 33, 43, 65, and 100-mile road rides, as well as exciting gravel options of 24 and 40 miles. But the fun doesn't stop there! On Sunday, April 12th, join Coastal Cyclists for a bonus ride of your choice. Whether you prefer a scenic road ride through Downtown Charleston, an adventure over the Ravenel Bridge, or a guided history tour, there’s something for everyone. Organiser's Description

Ride the Lowcountry is an annual outdoor cycling event that Coastal Cyclists host every spring.

Choose from routes of 33, 43, 65, and 100 miles of beautiful Lowcountry marsh and woodlands, much of it in a national forest. In addition to road rides, two gravel ride options — 24-mile or 40-mile — have been added for cyclists to choose from.

You're also invited to join Coastal Cyclists on Sunday, April 12th for a bonus ride of your choice:

1. Road ride through Downtown Charleston, over the the Ravenel Bridge, through Mount Pleasant, and out to Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms

2. Gravel ride through Francis Marion National Forest

3. Guided history tour of Downtown Charleston with a licensed guide with time to take pictures and ask questions.

Course Details

All Saturday routes start at the Awendaw Municipal Park (7900 Doar Rd, Awendaw, SC 29429). Follow signs to enter the park.

Cue sheets will not be provided. But, our road ride route marking is excellent! And, you can download the routes to your GPS device. A cue sheet can be downloaded to print from the Ride with GPS website for each route.

Saturday Routes
- Century Route (100 miles) White route arrows
- Metric Century Route (65 miles) Orange route arrows
- 43 Mile Route Blue route arrows
- 33 Mile Route Yellow route arrows

Saturday Gravel Routes
These rides will start from the same place as the road rides. Check the schedule for start times.

The roads are primarily hard-packed gravel and dirt, but there are sections of grass with some sand and potholes to add variety and fun. Animals which have been seen on these routes include white tail deer, wild turkeys, wild pigs, bobcats and a copperhead snake.
*Important* The routes are not marked with signs. You will need to download the routes for Ride With GPS and use that application as your guide. There are no ride leaders and the pace is entirely up to you.

Ride the Lowcountry is a Saturday event, but you are welcome to join Coastal Cyclists for regular club rides on Sunday, as well. More details on our website.

Location

The Awendaw Municipal Park has two entrances off Doar Road, which intersects with Highway 17 in two places. For your safety and smooth traffic flow, please use the northern intersection of Doar Road — the one farthest from Charleston.

If you’re coming from Charleston, drive 9.3 miles past Seewee Outpost (a store and gas station on your right) before turning right onto Doar Road. Do not turn onto Seewee Road or the closer Doar Road entrance. Directional signs will be posted to guide you.
