Event summary
Over the course of the program, you'll gradually build your endurance, starting with a mile in the first week and adding a half mile each subsequent week. By the end of the program, you'll be ready to tackle 3 miles or 5K, opening doors to many local races, including the exciting Thanks Dad 5K on June 15th! Don't miss this chance to challenge yourself, make new friends, and achieve your running goals in beautiful Richmond!
Organiser's Description
THE NEW RUNNERS TRAINING WILL MEET FOR SIX (6) WEEKS ON THURSDAY EVENINGS (6:00-7:30 PM) AT RICHMOND'S BRYAN PARK. THE FIRST SESSION IS THURSDAY, MAY 8TH.
After introductions and a warm-up, the team will run or walk/run/walk together. The goal is to cover 1 mile the first week and then increase the distance by a 1/2 mile each week. Each evening's program will end with a cool-down, running tips from the coaches, and a recommended activity plan for the week.
BY THE END OF THE PROGRAM, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO RUN OR RUN/WALK FOR 3 MILES OR 5K (5 KILOMETERS)...THE DISTANCE OF MANY POPULAR LOCAL RUNS AND RACES. RRRC is hosting the Thanks Dad 5K on Sunday, June 15th, so it's the perfect way to end your training experience!
