Organiser's Description
IMPORTANT UPDATE
Due to ongoing thunderstorms and saturated trail conditions, weve made the difficult decision to move the Run for Clean Water, Solstice Trail Run to a virtual format.
This marks the second year in a row that extreme weather has disrupted our eventlast year it was record-breaking heat, and this year, relentless rain and the threat of predicted thunderstorms. These disruptions serve as a stark and ironic reminder of how climate change is affecting even our most cherished local traditions and natural spaces. At The Watershed Institute, we are committed to protecting New Jersey from the growing impacts of climate change, including excessive heat, dangerous storms, and increasingly severe flooding.
Over the past few weeks, our trails have taken a beating from near-constant rain, leaving them muddy, unstable, and unsafe for a group run. Waterlogged soil makes trees susceptible to being toppled in high winds, and downed trees have already made some of our trails impassable. While we are deeply disappointed, our priority remains the safety of our runners.
Heres how the virtual run will work:
* Complete your run anytime between June 18 and June 25
* Run wherever you feel safe and inspiredon a trail, road, or treadmill
* Share finish times on RunSignup using the "Submit Virtual Results" Button
* Share your photos on social media using hashtag #WatershedInstitute
* Awards will be announced and available for pickup at The Watershed Center (more info to come)
We want to thank you for your continued support and donations. Your generosity fuels the conservation, advocacy, stewardship, and education work thats more urgent than ever in the face of a changing climate. We may not be together at the Watershed Reserve this yearbut were still running for clean water!
Stay safe, stay inspired, The Watershed Team
Thank you to all our generous sponsors who supported this Run for Clean Water!
