Event summary
Get ready to kick off the new year with excitement at the Run in the New Year event, taking place from December 2 to December 31, 2024, in the beautiful setting of Wellpinit, Stevens. This unique running event invites participants to join a looped course at the renowned Powwow grounds, coinciding with the Spokane Tribe's vibrant New Year's Eve powwow. It's a perfect opportunity to challenge yourself and see how many miles you can rack up before the clock strikes midnight!
As you run, feel free to take breaks and immerse yourself in the cultural festivities of the powwow or warm up at the designated warming station at the start/finish line. This event is not just about running; it supports an important cause as proceeds will go towards the development of the Homelands Fitness App. This innovative app aims to connect users with the Native Lands they are on, enhancing awareness and appreciation of Indigenous heritage. Join us in making this app a reality while enjoying a festive atmosphere and celebrating the spirit of community!

Organiser's Description
Join us running in the new year at the Powwow grounds while the Spokane Tribe has the New Year's Eve powwow also going on. This will be a looped course and a challenge to see how many miles you can run before the new year! Feel free to take some breaks to warm up by visiting the powwow or at the warming station at the start/finish.
The event is a fundraiser for the Homelands Fitness App development. This will be a fitness tracking app that will utilize the location data of users to inform them of whose Native Lands they are on.
This project has been self-funded up to this point by the founder, Danny Brigman but we need your help and support to make this app a reality. Visit homelandsapp.com for more information and updates.
