The Run Like a Hero 5K not only promises a fun and energetic race but also supports a great cause, with proceeds benefiting the Chico Striders Run Strong Scholarship for graduating high school senior athletes. Registration is open until 11:30 PM on July 3rd, and all race entrants will receive bibs, with packet pick-up available the day before or on race day. After crossing the finish line, enjoy refreshments and cheer on fellow runners as they complete their journey. Join us for a 4th of July celebration, the Run Like a Hero 5k presented by Chico Striders [https://www.chicostriders.com/] and Chico Running Club [https://chicorunningclub.org/]. Race proceeds benefit Chico Striders Run Strong Scholarship [https://www.chicostriders.com/about-1] presented to graduating high school senior athletes. Our theme this year is Run Like a Hero- wear your favorite hero costume or best Independence Day attire!
DATE: Saturday July 4th, 2026 @ 7:30am
REGISTRATION: Will be available until 11:30pm on July 3rd. No race day registration is available.
LOCATION: Sycamore Field, Bidwell Park - (Google Map [https://g.co/kgs/7aLnmMG])
PARKING: At Vallombrosa Way, CARD HQ parking lot on Vallombrosa Ave or Woodland Ave
BIBS AND TIMING: Bibs will be given to all race entrants. Packet pick-up will be at Fleet Feet Friday July 3rd between 11am-1pm. Bib pick-up can also be done the day of the race at Sycamore Field, starting at 7:00am. Timing will be performed by Chico Running Club.
DISCOUNTED REGISTRATION: Chico Striders and Chico Running Club Members receive $10 off race registration, select the Striders/CRC option Team option. For non members please select No Team. Please do not register for the discounted race fee if you are not a running club member.
REFRESHMENTS: Drinks and snacks will be provided after the race. Please stay after completing the race to cheer on other participants as they cross the finish.
VOLUNTEERS: Not ready to participate? Volunteers are needed and welcome for this race. Please click on the volunteer tab in the RunSignUp menu to sign up.
RACE INSURANCE: Is provided by a RunSignUp partner. Chico Running Club does not provide or administer race insurance should participants elect to purchase it.
