Join us for the inspiring "Run TEAL There's a Cure" 5K on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in Texarkana, Bowie, at the beautiful Spring Lake Park. This vibrant event is dedicated to raising funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA) and honors the courageous journey of Lori Newcomb, co-founder of Newks Cares, who has faced her own battle with ovarian cancer. With a goal of raising $5,000, this event aims to bring the community together to support vital research and provide hope for the thousands of women diagnosed each year.
The race kicks off at 9:00 AM, with registration available from 7:45 AM to 8:45 AM. Participants can look forward to a fun, uplifting atmosphere as they run for a cause that touches so many lives. Medals will be awarded to the overall male and female winners, as well as the top three finishers in age categories ranging from 12-29, 30-49, and 50+. Lace up your running shoes and join us in making a difference—together, we can help find a cure for ovarian cancer!

NEWK'S CARES STORY:
Our annual 5K will benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (501c3). Ovarian cancer hits close to home for the Newks family. Lori Newcomb Co-founder of Newks Cares and wife of Newks Eatery Co-founder and CEO, Chris Newcomb was diagnosed with stage IIIC ovarian cancer in February 2013. Her story is all too familiar for many women, as one in 70 will develop this disease. It is the fifth leading cause of death in women. We at Newks Eatery look forward to your help in participating in a fun, positive event that benefits OCRA, the largest global organization dedicated to advancing ovarian cancer research while supporting women and their families.
20,000 women are diagnosed with OC this year and less than half will survive the next 5 years.

Runners will be required to sign a waiver at time of registration, under 18 must have parent signature.
