Start your Cajun Festival celebration with some miles and smiles! The Run the Roux 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run takes place the morning of the festival and features a fun, festive route through the heart of Vinton. Whether youre chasing a PR or enjoying a relaxed walk with friends, this event brings together fitness, family, and Cajun pride.

Finish your run and head straight into the festival for great food, live music, and a full day of activities!

REGISTRATION

5K- $30 registration through October 10th the $40 through October 23rd at midnight $45 for Race Day registration (Registration includes cost of shirt. Shirts are only guaranteed for those registered by Oct. 4th at midnight)

1 Mile fun run: $15 registration through October 23rd. Race day registration $20 (shirts not included in 1-mile pricing shirts may be available for purchase on race day for $15 limited sizing and availability)

LOCATION AND ROUTE

The 5K will begin and in at 1502 Industrial Street.

* Starting line will be in front of the St Josephs Religious Education building runners will travel south on Industrial street to South street
* Turn right on South Street traveling West to Horridge Street
* Turn left on Horridge Street traveling South to Penny Drive
* Turn right onto Penny drive to Stevenson Street
* Turn right onto Stevenson Street traveling North to Perry Street
* Turn left onto Perry Street traveling West to Vincent Street
* Turn right onto Vincent Street traveling North to Goodwin Street
* Turn Right onto Goodwin Street traveling East to Stevenson Street
* Turn Left onto Stevenson Street traveling North to Loree Street
* Turn right onto Lorre Street traveling East to Gum Cove Road
* Turn Right onto Gum Cove Road traveling South toward Goodwin Street
* Turn right onto Goodwin Street traveling West towards Lyons Street
* Turn right onto Lyons Street traveling North toward Loree Street
* Turn Left onto Loree Street traveling West toward Induustrial Street
* Turn Left on Industrial Street where the finish line will be ahead.

The 1 Mile fun run is an out and back route:

* Runners will start in front of the Religious Ed building heading South toward South Street
* Turn West on South Street traveling toward Eddy Street
* Turn North on Eddy Street traveling toward Goodwin Street
* Turn around at Goodwin Street traveling back toward South Street
* Turn East on South Street traveling toward Industrial Street
* Turn North on Industrial Street traveling towards the finish line

BIB ASSIGNMENTS

* Bib numbers are assigned at packet pickup
* Race Bibs are to be worn on the front abdominal area throughout the race
* Runners without Bibs will not receive a time/score

AGE GROUP CATEGORIES & AWARDS

Awards will be given to the following categories for the 5K:

* Overall Male and Female: $50 cash prize, free entry/wristband into festival, and medal
* 1st-3rd place male and female runners in each age group: Free entry wristband into festival and medal
* Age groups as follows: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

1-Mile fun run:

* Overall Male and Female medals for children 13 and under. Adults are welcome to participate in this fun run but overall awards are reserved for the younger racers.
* All paid participants receive a finishers medal. No age group awards offered for the 1-Mile

PARKING

Limited parking available across the street from the church on the corner of Industrial Street and Goodwin Street. Carpooling is encouraged please be courteous to surrounding residents and avoid parking in from of driveways.

Those looking to volunteer in helping make this race a success can contact Samantha Dommert at 337-540-0261 if call is not answered please leave a message or send a text. Volunteer positions include: race bag stuffing, route set up, cheer and hydration station on race route, medical personnel volunteers anlond route for runner safety, and route pick up.
