Organiser's Description
MTRC RUN THIS LAND (VIRTUAL CHALLENGE)
Dates: November 1 November 30
Cost: FREE!
Where: Any trail in Minnesota (or wherever your feet take you!)
Kick off Season 2 of the MN Trail Run Collective with our first virtual challenge focused on running with purpose. Throughout November, recognized as National Native American Heritage Month, "Run This Land" invites runners across Minnesota to log trail miles while acknowledging, honoring and exploring the history of the ancestral lands we run every day.
Whether you are winding through suburban park preserves, crunching through oak savannas or climbing ridgelines along the North Shore, every foot of Minnesota trail carries a deep history that predates park borders, Strava segments and race bibs.
HOW IT WORKS:
Explore and Acknowledge: Before you head out, look up the treaty boundaries and ancestral homelands of your route at Native-Land.ca.
Log your Miles: Run, hike or walk on any trail across Minnesota anytime from Nov. 1 through Nov. 30. Engage with Weekly Trail Prompts: Watch for weekly prompts focused on local ecology, historic waterways, native flora and trail history.
Connect the Collective: Share your trail discoveries and track your runs using the hashtag #MTRCRunThisLand. Free to join, open to all paces and accessible from any trailhead across the state. Explore more, run with intention and join the collective.
