This unique race features a scenic 1-mile loop around the beautiful Weymouth Woods Boyd Tract, where participants will have the chance to run past the oldest known living Longleaf Pine tree, estimated to be over 470 years old!
Join in the excitement as competitors tackle the challenge of completing as many laps as possible in a thrilling 4-hour time frame or take part in the more relaxed 5K option, which consists of three loops of the same stunning course. This year, participants can also choose the Run and Ruck option, adding an extra layer of challenge and fun! The event kicks off at 8 AM, with packet pickup available the evening before and on race day. With prizes for the top male and female finishers in both categories, as well as an official race t-shirt and medal for all participants, this is one running event you won't want to miss!

The Sandhills Sasquatch is a repetitive 1-MILE LOOP AROUND THE SCENIC WEYMOUTH WOODS BOYD TRACT LOOP IN SOUTHERN PINES, NC. The route is a well maintained and well-marked trail that take you around the beautiful Weymouth Center property and past the OLDEST KNOWN LIVING LONG LEAF PINE TREE, ESTIMATED TO BE OVER 470 YEARS OLD.
THE RACE IS SIMPLE, COMPLETE AS MANY 1-MILE LOOPS AS YOU CAN IN 4- HOURS! OR REGISTER FOR THE THREE LOOP 5K OPTION. THIS YEAR'S RACE OFFERS A RUN AND RUCK OPTION.

SAME DAY PACKET PICKUP will be available at the start line from 6:30am-7:30am.

THIS IS A SELF-PACED EVENT. For the 4-HOUR OPTION, run or ruck as many miles as you can in the prescribed time or until you decide to stop. The participant that covers the most distance in the prescribed time is declared the winner. Runners are allowed to run, walk, and rest as needed for the duration of the event. Laps will be recorded by the race organizers. The event organizer will have an aid station set up at the start finish line with water, Gatorade, and snacks. Participants can set up personal tents, tables, and aid stations in the park area by the start finish. The 5K OPTION is three loops along the same course with a 1-hour cutoff time. 5K runners are welcome to continue laps and opt into the full challenge at any time if they choose.
THERE WILL BE PRIZES FOR THE TOP MALE AND FEMALE FOR BOTH THE 4-HOUR AND 5K EVENTS IN BOTH THE RUN AND RUCK CATEGORIES.
PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE AN OFFICIAL RACE T-SHIRT AND FINISHING MEDAL. T-SHIRTS CANNOT BE GUARANTEED FOR REGISTRATIONS AFTER OCTOBER 12, 2026.

This was a well-managed and fun race! The route was clearly marked and a nice route through the woods. The start/finish was well stocked and was very easy for both spectators and athletes to maneuver and pass through. I would definitely do this again!
