This unique race takes place on a picturesque 1-mile loop around the stunning Weymouth Woods Boyd Tract, where participants will enjoy the beauty of nature, including the majestic oldest known living longleaf pine tree, estimated to be over 470 years old.
Participants can choose between two thrilling options: the 4-hour challenge, where you can run or ruck as many laps as possible in the allotted time, or the 5K, which consists of three loops with a 1-hour cutoff. Whether you're a seasoned runner or a casual participant, this event is designed for everyone, allowing you to run, walk, or rest as needed. With prizes for the top male and female finishers in both categories, as well as a race t-shirt and finishing medal for all participants, the Sandhills Sasquatch promises an unforgettable experience. The Sandhills Sasquatch is a repetitive 1-MILE LOOP AROUND THE SCENIC WEYMOUTH WOODS BOYD TRACT LOOP IN SOUTHERN PINES, NC. The route is a well maintained and well-marked trail that takes you around the beautiful Weymouth Center property and past the OLDEST KNOWN LIVING LONG LEAF PINE TREE, ESTIMATED TO BE OVER 470 YEARS OLD.
THE RACE IS SIMPLE, COMPLETE AS MANY 1-MILE LOOPS AS YOU CAN IN 4- HOURS! OR REGISTER FOR THE THREE LOOP 5K OPTION. THIS YEAR'S RACE OFFERS A RUN AND RUCK OPTION.

SAME DAY PACKET PICKUP will be available at the start line from 6:30am-7:30am.

THIS IS A SELF-PACED EVENT. For the 4-HOUR OPTION, run or ruck as many miles as you can in the prescribed time or until you decide to stop. The participant that covers the most distance in the prescribed time is declared the winner. Runners are allowed to run, walk, and rest as needed for the duration of the event. Laps will be recorded by the race organizers. The event organizer will have an aid station set up at the start finish line with water, Gatorade, and snacks. Participants can set up personal tents, tables, and aid stations in the park area by the start finish. The 5K OPTION is three loops along the same course with a 1-hour cutoff time. 5K runners are welcome to continue laps and opt into the full challenge at any time if they choose.
THERE WILL BE PRIZES FOR THE TOP MALE AND FEMALE FOR BOTH THE 4-HOUR AND 5K EVENTS IN BOTH THE RUN AND RUCK CATEGORIES.
PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE AN OFFICIAL RACE T-SHIRT AND FINISHING MEDAL. T-SHIRTS CANNOT BE GUARANTEED FOR REGISTRATIONS AFTER OCTOBER 12, 2026.

This was a well-managed and fun race! The route was clearly marked and a nice route through the woods. The start/finish was well stocked and was very easy for both spectators and athletes to maneuver and pass through. I would definitely do this again!
