This exciting event, organized by Scouts BSA Troop 198, invites participants of all ages to embrace the great outdoors while supporting a noble cause. Enjoy the stunning trails of Moon Park in the 5k race or challenge yourself with the breathtaking 10k course through the beautiful Montour Woods.
Not only will you experience the thrill of racing, but your participation will also help fund essential activities for the scouts, including equipment purchases, campouts, and merit badges. All entrants will receive a complimentary T-shirt while supplies last, and there will be awards for the top male and female finishers in both races. Plus, every finisher will take home a custom wooden medal as a keepsake of this memorable day. Lace up your running shoes and join us for a day filled with fun, fitness, and community spirit!

Welcome to the website for the second Scouting the Moon 5k/10k Trail Races being held on October 6th, 2024 at the Clearview Pavilion in Moon Park. This event is organized by Scouts BSA Troop 198 in Moon Township and all proceeds will go to support the Troop and Scouts on their path to Eagle.
The values of Scouting found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law are just as relevant today as they were in 1910. The programs continue to help youth develop skills to last a lifetime in the areas of leadership, self-confidence, ethics, academic skills, citizenship, and much more through trying new things and providing service to others. Your participation will help defray the cost of organizing the event. These items include the purchase of equipment, maintenance of the troop trailer, purchase the many merit badges and awards earned by the Scouts and fund campouts and activities throughout the year.
This event will also provide you an opportunity to get outdoors to explore the trails in Moon Park in the 5k and to delve into the treasures of the Montour Woods in the 10k event. All entrants will receive T-shirts while supplies last. Awards will be given to the top Male & Female in 5k and 10l and all finishers will receive a custom wooden medal upon completion of the event. .

CLOSEDThe 5K course will start and end near the Clearview Pavilion and take runners on a tour of Moon Park. Overall, the course is very runnable but there are portions that are narrow, steep, excessively rooted and/or covered with vegetation. Expect the first half to be slower than the second but the final climb will keep you pushing until the very end. -

CLOSEDThe 10K course will start and end near the Clearview Pavilion and take runners down into Montour Woods to experience the great trails maintained by the Hollow Oak Land Trust. Overall, the trail is very runnable but there are portions that are narrow, steep, excessively rooted and/or covered with vegetation.
