The Foundation of CVPH and Adirondack Coast Events Annual Shamrock Shuffle 5K is set for Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11 am. The shuffle starts and finishes at Valcour Brewing Company in a two-loop race that creates a flat, fast route! The 50 finishers (21+) get a free beer courtesy of Valcour Brewing.
Cost to register is $25 and all proceeds of this race benefit The Foundation of CVPH and will be used to purchase items for our Kids Closet at UVM Health Network CVPH in Plattsburgh. This closet is intended for two different types of children in need. There are items in our closet for children who have found themselves in the ER for medical care or waiting for transportation to another pediatric unit. These items include small teddy bears for comfort, fidget toys, small electronic writing pads, diverse dolls and so many other items. The closet has gained another use in the last few years. We have found children here visiting close family members while they are in the process of passing away. Our social workers, nurses and palliative care team often are taking teddy bears and books for children about loss of a loved one. We have heard that those teddy bears and books have meant so much to these children during very difficult times. All toys are given out and not borrowed due to infection control purposes and safety of our tiniest patients. This closet is accessible to all staff, any time of the day or night. We have heard some wonderful stories how these bears and fidget toys have provided comfort to children during difficult moments.
Wear your green running gear, leprechaun hats and bring your shillelagh's! AND... don't forget to stick around for great food and green beer!
Here are some important details:
* The race starts at 11am and Bib pick-up starts at 10am with some awesome shamrock bibs!
* This is a two-loop race! The race begins in front of Valcour Brewing and briefly heads west, then south around the building, then east out to Ohio Ave. Runners will exit on to Ohio Ave, and make a right turn (south). At the intersection with Nevada Ave, runners will bear left and continue south to the southern end of the Terry Gordon Bike Path. Runners will then run north on the path and go through the tunnel. Just after the tunnel, runners will take the connector back to Ohio, into the Valcour Brewing entrance, taking a right just before the building and then a left in front of the building through the Adirondack Coast Events arch (this is 1.55 miles). From there, runners will go south on Ohio and do that same loop again.
* Prizes for top three male and female finishers.
