Join us for the Sixth Annual A-7 Corsair II Memorial 5K Run/Walk, taking place virtually from September 26 to September 27, 2026! This inspiring event honors the legacy of the A-7 Corsair II, which made its first flight on September 26, 1965, and served valiantly in numerous conflicts until its retirement in 2014. Participants can run or walk a 5K distance at their own pace, choosing a course that suits them best, and share their results and photos to celebrate their achievements.
Set against the beautiful backdrop of Camarillo, Ventura, this virtual run/walk not only promotes fitness and community engagement but also supports a great cause. Proceeds will benefit the A-7 Corsair II Association, helping to fund scholarships and programs focused on science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and aviation for America’s youth. Organiser's Description
The first flight of the A-7 Corsair II took place 26 September 1965. The airframe would go on to serve in every major conflict from Vietnam to Desert Storm. Utilized by the US Navy, US Air Force, US Air National Guard, Portuguese Air Force, Thai Air Force, and Hellenic Air Force, the Corsair II was finally retired from service in 2014. To commemorate this aircraft's storied history and the sacrifice of those service members who flew and maintained the airframe throughout its 49 year history, the A-7 Corsair II Association (www.corsair2.us [https://www.corsair2.us]) is hosting its fifth annual virtual 5K run/walk. Funds raised from this event will be used to support the Association's goals including scholarships for Americas youth for various programs focusing on science, technology, engineering, mathematics, critical thinking, and of course, aviation. airplane
