MISSION:
The mission of the Sound the Alarm 5K Run/Walk is to provide awareness and financial support to the men and women of the first responder community. This years race will help by raising funds to help provide financial support to the families of Firefighters, Police Officers, and Emergency Medical Staff providers who are killed in the line of duty.
This year the Independence Professional Firefighters Union Local 3945 in partnership with Hickory Grove Baptist Church will be again teaming up to help raise awareness and financial support to an organization to aid in this issue. This year we will be assisting Supporting Heroes.
Supporting Heroes is a Louisville Kentucky based company whose sole purpose is to take care of the families of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice by answering their last call. These brave men and women gave their lives to serve and protect the communities where they work and serve.
Recognizing the immediate financial stress that accompanies most line of duty deaths, Supporting Heroes presents a $5,000 emergency funds check to the most immediate financially dependent survivor typically, within a few hours of the death. Calling it a down payment on a promise. Supporting Heroes commits to providing additional emergency funds, if needed, and providing ongoing financial support monthly while assisting in obtaining state and federal line-of-duty death benefits.
Supporting Heroes maintains a specially trained Memorial Team to assist agency leaders in rendering professional honors and properly supporting the family, co-workers, and community. The organization also holds events throughout the year to bring families of fallen first responders together in the hopes of building supportive relationships among peers.
All participates will start at 8:30, no corrals, faster pace runners start towards the front, walkers line up in the back.

All participants have 90 minutes to complete the course. After that time frame, everyone will be asked to move to the sidewalk to finish the race.
