Get ready to lace up your running shoes and don your brightest neon gear for the 9th annual Stars & Spikes: Totally Rad 5k on Saturday, May 9th, 2026! This exciting event, held at Madison Elementary in Lombard, DuPage, invites participants to embrace the vibrant spirit of the 1980s while racing for fun and fitness. With both a 5k race and a 1-mile fun run to choose from, there's something for everyone, whether you're a seasoned runner or looking for a family-friendly outing.
Join in the festivities starting at 7:30 AM for pre-race registration, with the 5k kicking off at 9:00 AM and the 1-mile fun run starting at 10:00 AM. After the races, celebrate your achievements at the post-race party! Registration fees are affordable at $30 for adults (19 and over) and just $10 for participants aged 18 and under for the 5k, while the 1-mile fun run is $15 for adults and $10 for youth. Don’t forget, all participants will receive a race shirt, but be sure to register by April 20th to guarantee yours. Dust off

Join us at Madison Elementary on May 9th for our 9th annual Stars & Spikes 5k event! This year we are time traveling back to the 1980's for our race theme with our race apparel centering around the neon colors of the decade. Feel free to join in on the fun by busting out your headbands, track suits, leg warmers and all things 1980!
This race is hosted by Madison and Hammerschmidt Elementaries in Lombard, IL. Both a 5k race and 1 mile fun run are offered.
