Join us for the Strides4CMV - Running for Ruth event on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in Owensboro, Kentucky, as we come together to honor the memory of Ruth Wells and raise awareness for congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV). This inspiring Memorial 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8 AM at the beautiful Adkisson Greenbelt Park West Trail, with participants enjoying a scenic out-and-back course starting from the Joe Ford Nature Center.
In this uplifting event, not only will you be supporting vital research and education around CMV, but you'll also have the chance to compete for awards, including a gift card for the overall top male and female finishers, and prizes for the top three in each age group. Registration is just $25 if completed by May 31, ensuring you receive a race shirt, with race day registration available for $30 (cash or check only). Pre-packet pick-up will take place on June 19, and race day check-in is from 7-7:30 AM. Come out, run or walk for a cause that matters, and help us continue Ruth's legacy of strength and resilience!

My Story:
Madison and James Wells, tragically lost their infant daughter, RUTH, in June 2024 at just seven months old due to congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV), a common but often overlooked virus that can have devastating effects on newborns. Despite a lengthy and courageous battle, her sweet girl passed away, leaving behind a legacy of strength, love, and resilience.
In her daughters memory, Madison ran the 2025 New York City Marathon as a charity runner for the National CMV Foundation. As part of this incredible journey, we are again organizing a Memorial 5K Run/Walk on June 20, 2026, in Owensboro, Kentucky in partnership with Strides 4 CMV during CMV awareness month, to raise awareness and critical funds to support CMV research, education, and prevention efforts.
Madison completed her marathon last year in 526 with a average pace of 12:34.
