Get ready to kick off 2026 with energy and enthusiasm at the inaugural TAKEDOWN THE NEW YEAR 5K RUN/WALK! This exciting event will take place on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Buhach Colony High School in Atwater, Merced. Join your family, friends, and fellow community members for a day filled with fun and fitness, all while supporting the dedicated Boys & Girls Wrestling teams.
The race day kicks off with packet pick-up and registration from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a thrilling Kids Race around the brand new all-weather track at 11:30 AM. The main event, a chip-timed 5K Run/Walk, starts at noon, ensuring participants of all ages can enjoy the challenge. Not only will there be finisher's medals for all kids participating, but age-group medals will also be awarded to the top three finishers in various categories for the 5K. Stick around after the race for a chance to win fantastic raffle prizes! Whether you're racing or cheering from the sidelines, your participation helps support our young athletes in acquiring vital resources they need for their wrestling journey. Organiser's Description
The Boys & Girls Wrestling teams at Buhach Colony HS invites you, your family, and friends to the first annual TAKEDOWN THE NEW YEAR 5K. This fun-filled abd competitive event will take place on SATURDAY, JANUARY 3, 2026 AT BUHACH COLONY HS in the city of Atwater. Our goal is to raise enough funds to help our young student/athletes purchase new uniforms, warm ups, wrestling equipment, and cover all tournament-related expenses.
Here is the race day schedule:
10:00AM-11:00AM = Packet pick up and race-day registration
11:30AM-11:45AM = KIDS RACE will be 1 lap around the BRAND NEW, ALL-WEATHER TRACK at BCHS!
12 NOON = 5K RUN/WALK will be chip-timed by local timers: ALPHA-RO TIMING (_LIVE RESULTS_ available at RUNSIGNUP.COM).
RAFFLE: Stick around for the post-race raffle! Your bib is your ticket to win one of the many gift baskets and raffle prizes (must be present to win).
FINISHER'S MEDALS to ALL participants in the Kids Race. AGE-GROUP MEDALS for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd places in the following 5K Run/Walk: 10 and under, 11-13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. Pre-purchase an event shirt or hoodie and pick it up on race day!
