Riders can choose between two thrilling race distances: a challenging 15.8-mile course featuring two loops or a 7.9-mile single loop. The races kick off bright and early at 7:30 AM for the two-lap competitors and at 7:40 AM for those tackling the one-lap option, followed by a non-competitive Fun Ride for e-bikes starting at 7:45 AM.
As you navigate this spectacular gravel course, you'll immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Texas Canyon while supporting the vital mission of the Amerind Foundation in promoting knowledge and understanding of Native Peoples of the Americas. With no aid stations along the route, participants are encouraged to be fully self-sufficient, bringing their own hydration and gear. Organiser's Description
The Amerind Museum presents the 6th Annual Texas Canyon Mountain Bike Ride. Heres your chance to intimately experience this awe-inspiring region that is normally closed to Bikes. Come out and ride a scenic course in beautiful Texas Canyon. Participation in the event enables Amerind to further its mission of fostering and promoting knowledge and understanding of the Native Peoples of the Americas through research, education, conservation, and community engagement.
The race starts at 7:30 am. for the 2 lap (15.8 mile) division and 7:40 am for the 1 lap (7.9 mile) division. Fun Ride (non-competitive & E-bikes welcome) will start at 7:45 am - AFTER all competitive riders have cleared the start line.
THE RACE COURSE
The race will be held entirely within Texas Canyon on the Amerind Foundation property. We believe you will experience mountain biking at its best on a course that takes you on one or two 7.9-mile loops through spectacular Texas Canyon, an area that will only be open to the Mountain Bikes on race day. Helmets are required. Please remember no dogs and no headsets, in compliance with our insurance requirements---- you will really want to be in the moment anyway. The course is gravel and mountain bike friendly; e-bikes are permitted to participate ONLY in the non-competitive division.
AID STATIONS - BYOB
This is a BYOB event- bring your own bottle of hydration. You must be 100% self-sufficient. There will be no aid stations on the course.
REGISTRATION AND PACKET PICK-UP
Onsite registration and packet pick-up will begin on race day at 6:00 am. PLEASE ARRIVE AT LEAST 30 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR START TIME TO ALLOW TIME TO PARK, PICK UP YOUR PACKET, AND ATTACH YOUR NUMBER PLATE.
RACE DAY REQUIREMENTS
ALL participants must adhere to the following requirements:
* You must be 100% self-sufficient. There are no water stops, refreshments, or medical assistance at the race.
* You must be in good health and symptom free from any illness for at least two weeks prior to the event.
* Your number plate with timing chip must be fastened to the handlebars and must not be obstructed or covered up in any way.
* Your race is a gun start. Therefore, please be on the line and ready to start.
* HELMETS MUST BE WORN.
* Participants must follow all instructions of the course marshals. Failure to adhere to course marshal instructions will result in an immediate disqualification
RESULTS AND AWARDS
All results will be streamed live on On Your Left Timing's Results Page. During registration, you can also sign up for results text messaging.
Awards will be given to 1st through 3rd place Male and Female in each category (listed below), as well as to the Overall Male and Female winners in both the 7.9-mile and 15.8-mile events. Awards will not be given in the non-competitive Fun Ride division.
