Organiser's Description
The 40th annual family event includes a 3K Walk (7:30 am start) and 5K Run (8:00 am start) with Thanksgiving themed door prizes and awards, and it is the sole fundraiser for the Bowling Green Running Club's High School Athletics Program.
Any high schools in the following counties are eligible to apply for financial assistance through the Bowling Green Running Club:
Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Ohio, Simpson, and Warren.
BGRC hopes to aid programs that don't have enough funds to adequately outfit their Track / Cross Country clubs with items such as uniforms and equipment needs. The BGRC officers and board members will review all applications and award as many as possible with the available funds generated from the annual Great Turkey 5K.
Due to participant volume and separate start / finish locations, the 5K event is a gun start / chip finish event. It is strongly recommended that 5K participants pick up their bib chip during the early packet pickup to avoid long lines the morning of the event.

The Great Turkey 5K is a competitive 5K run along the classic xc course on the Carl Kell fitness trail at Kereiakes Park. This event has a gun start and chip finish. Participants must have their race bibs visible and worn above all layers to ensure accurate timing and photo tagging. The competitive event is capped at 500 participants * Dogs are not allowed during the 5K Run or the 3K Walk. * Strollers are not allowed in the 5K run. Great Turkey 5K - Non Timed Fun Run

To allow more runners to participate in the 5K festivities, we are now offering a non-competitive fun run version of the 5K. This will start an hour before the competitive heat giving runners and walkers more room to take their time on the gravel course of Kereiakes Park. There will be no awards for the non-competitive event -
