Rick Pinto
9/30/1967 1/13/2018
Rick was born in Somerville, New Jersey on September 30, 1967. Rick received a BA in Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. During his time at UNCC, he met his wife Tonya, and they married June 3, 1995. Rick was very active in his younger years, but as we all know, life gets in the way and as we get older, we get busy and forget to take care of ourselves like we should. Rick decided that he wanted to get back in shape to be more active with his family and to make sure he was around for them in the future. He decided to sell his riding mower and start working out, and that is what he did.
He started working out with F3 and there he received his F3 name Gremlin and his journey to getting in shape started. Rick signed up for his first 5K in the town of Mint Hill and that was the launching point for his running. Rick ran several races and had set a goal of running a half marathon in December of 2016 and he did, he went from a 5k to half marathon in less than a year. Rick then went on to do a marathon in Myrtle Beach SC in March of 2017 and then had signed up for the marathon in 2018. Rick passed away following an 18-mile training run on January 13, 2018.
Rick was a loving father and husband and a true HIM High Impact Male. Rick coached his daughters in sports, he was a leader in his church where he taught Sunday School. Rick left his impression on many of those lucky enough to know him and his legacy still lives on through his family and friends. We honor Rick each year with a workout in his honor that is fittingly called The Gremlin.
