On September 21st, kick off the showdown with a thrilling 13-mile mountain bike race. Brace yourself for a rugged cross-country adventure that will push your limits, featuring fast descents, challenging uphill climbs, and exhilarating singletrack trails. Don't let the distance fool you; I know 13 miles for some of you vets doesn't sound like a lot on a bike, but this is not your millennial buffed out machine built berm on the turn flow course. This is an old school rugged cross country throw your bike on your shoulder kind of race. It's a test of endurance and skill that will keep you coming back year after year.



The following day, September 22nd, conquer the terrain with a 13-mile trail run through Sunlight Mountain Resort and the Babbish Gulch trail system. Whether you're a seasoned trail runner seeking a new challenge or a newcomer eager to experience the thrill of the race, this course promises an unforgettable journey. With stunning vistas of Mt. Sopris and diverse landscapes, every step is a chance to immerse yourself in nature's beauty.



Feeling ambitious? Take on both races back-to-back and prove your mettle in the full Showdown! But remember, it's not just about podium finishes and bragging rightsit's about embracing the spirit of camaraderie, pushing your limits, and celebrating the joy of outdoor adventure.



Both races will follow the same 13-mile course, featuring a 3000 ft elevation gain in reverse directions. Expect a mix of 75% singletrack and 25% doubletrack trails, offering a variety of challenges and scenery along the way. From stream crossings to panoramic views, every twist and turn will keep you on your toes.



For mountain bikers, prepare for a 1900 ft climb up Sunlight, while runners will conclude their journey with the same thrilling descent. And don't worry, we've got you covered with a water-only aid station at mile 8.6 of the run(no aid station for the bike).



As for prizes, top finishers in each category will receive 2024/25 winter lift tickets to Sunlight Mountain Resort, with a season pass up for grabs for the overall male and female racers boasting the best combined times. Plus, be the first mountain biker to conquer the summit of Sunlight and claim the coveted title of King or Queen of the mountain.
