The Trudge 5K commemorates the 3 miles The Healing Place of New Hanover County clients walk every day in their recovery journey.
Join us February 7, 2026 to celebrate The Healing Place's anniversary by walking or running a 5K.
After your 5K, stay for the big anniversary celebration which includes free food (brunch), live music, community vendors, and more. Brunch includes fruit, yogurt, and breakfast sandwiches.

HOW YOUR REGISTRATION MAKES A DIFFERENCE
The Healing Place of New Hanover County truly is where hope is found.
We provide food, shelter, clothing, and recovery services at no cost to the client. All a person has to have is a desire to get sober. We opened February 1, 2023 and have helped nearly 1,000 people withdraw from drugs and alcohol and have admitted nearly 800 people into our long-term residential recovery program. Every dollar raised by THPNC impacts a person either struggling with homelessness or active addiction.

You can walk or run the 5K. This event is chip timed. The 5K starts and finishes at The Healing Place. Athletes follow Medical Center Drive to Wisteria Drive, then Cypress Drive before connecting with the Greenfield Lake paver trail along East Lake Shore Drive. The course continues clockwise around the lake to a turnaround just before Greenfield Lake Amphitheater. Athletes then retrace their route to the finish at The Healing Place. -

The 10K starts and finishes at The Healing Place, following the same opening route as the 5K: Medical Center Drive to Wisteria Drive, then Cypress Drive to the Greenfield Lake paver trail along East Lake Shore Drive. Athletes continue clockwise around Greenfield Lake on the multi-use trail, completing a loop of the lake before running a short out-and-back on the paver trail near the connection between East Lake Shore Drive and West Lake Shore Drive. The course then returns along East Lake Shore Drive to Cypress Drive, Wisteria Drive, and Medical Center Drive, finishing at The Healing Place.
