Wichita's Premier Road USATF certified 1 mile race.
The time has finally come to figure out how fast you can actually run a mile. Test your top mile speed once each season, set PRs, and compete against friends and family.
We break this race up into waves based upon runners estimated pace so runners can be pushed towards their PRs without worrying about fighting through crowds while being pulled along by athletes of a similar caliber. Except for The Summer Switch Up
PACKET PICKUP
Packet Pickup is the Friday for the race Noon - 7pm at Fartleks Running Shop (535 W Douglas Ave, Ste 130)
And on Saturday at the Sim's Park near the finish line prior to the race.
WHEN
4 times a year, once every season. None of the races overlap with XC or Track Season
The Winter One: January 24th | The Spring 1609: June 6th | The Summer Switch Up: August 8th | The Fall 5280: November 7th
WHERE
Locations are still being finalized. But the current plan is The Winter One & The Summer Switch Up will take place at Sim's Park. We are looking to confirm a track for the Spring 1609, & are exploring alternative road options for The Fall 5280. When locations are finalized they will be announced here, on Facebook, and Instagram.
TEAMS
You and 4 teammates, run club buddies, coworkers, classmates, friends, family, etc sign up in the same group/team and be eligible for the team awards. Top 3 teams with the best average age grade will be recognized and receive the team awards. Don't forget since this event is in waves, you'll likely have the opportunity to cheer on your teammates before or after your run.
Will it be one of the local run clubs to take the prize (Run Wichita, TJ's, Run 316, ERC, F88, Delano Desperados) or is there a quick family, workplace, school out there who can take them down?
Our current defending Champions are the JaVe Track Club
AWARDS _(we do things a little different)_
Instead of Age group awards. We will have PR awards for runners who set their Wichita Mile PR. Runners are not eligible to win a PR award at their first Wichita Mile, but will be for any future Wichita Mile race they participate in. In other words, you are awarded for beating yourself instead of others.
But you can also be awarded for beating others: Top 5 Men and Women overall, Top 5 Age Graded, and Top Team, and Top Clydesdale and Athena will receive free entry into the next 2 Wichita Mile events in 2026 and receive Fartleks Gift Cards!
