EVENT DESCRIPTION:

THIS YEAR WE CELEBRATE THE 40TH RUNNING OF ROME'S OLDEST RACE! What began as a fundraiser by the Rome Jaycees to repair Rome's iconic City Clock has grown into one of Georgia's premier running events. This year will mark the 20th year that funds raised from this fun and challenging race will benefit the effort of the EXCHANGE CLUB FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER FOR THE PREVENTION OF CHILD ABUSE. One of the oldest races in Georgia history, the race course wind through historic downtown Rome and climbs historic Clocktower Hill in the second mile before finishing with a view of the Coosa River in Heritage Park. Both the 5K and the 2-mile Health Walk courses are quite scenic, as they take in much of the "Between the Rivers" district of beautiful downtown Rome. Short sleeve Gildan _Softstyle _tee-shirts are guaranteed to runners and walkers registered by midnight, August 6th.

We are pleased to be part of the _Atlanta Journal Constitution Peachtree Road Race Qualifier Program_! Your race time this year can be used as a qualifying time for the 2026 Peachtree Road Race.

5K AND 2-MILE COURSES:

Both events start and end in Heritage Park. Race starts on West 3rd Street, runs through Historic Downtown Rome ascending the iconic Clocktower hill of course, and finishes on the Levee of Heritage Park. The 2 Mile Health Walk starts on 2nd Avenue at the exit drive of Heritage Park, follows a gentler ascent to Clocktower Hill, and crosses the historic John Ross Footbridge to finish inside Heritage Park.

The 5K course is certified by USATF, course number: GA24030WC

The 5K will be chip-timed by _WIRE2WIRE RUNNING_; the 2 mile Health Walk will be non-competitive.

* *NOTE THE PRICE INCREASES AFTER JULY 19TH....
_July 20th -through August 7th: 5K is $35; 2 Mile is $30. _

LATE REGISTRATION...

* August 8th through August 13th: _5K & 2 Mile are $40. Tee-shirts are not guaranteed._
* Registration will close at 11:59PM on August 13th and will not reopen until Race Day.
* _Race Day registration will be $40 for both 5K & 2 Mile._ Tee-shirts are not guaranteed.

GROUP DISCOUNT:
_ Teams of 10 or more (any combination of run & walk) receive a discount of $3 per person._
_ Registrations for each team must all be submitted together no later than August 7, 2024. _

PRE-RACE PACKET PICKUP:

Participants may pick up race packets and bibs on FRIDAY, AUGUST 16TH, FROM 3:00 PM UNTIL 6:00 PM at First United Methodist Church of Rome Wilder Center, 202 East 3rd Ave, Rome, GA 30161.

5K AWARDS:

_ We've got some really cool awards planned!_

1st place Overall (Male and Female)

1st Place Masters (Male & Female)

1st Place Grandmasters (Male & Female)

1st, 2nd, & 3rd in each of the following Age Groups: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 & older.

Also, a special award will be given to the _Youngest Finisher_ and the _Oldest Finisher of the 5K_.

NOTE: _The 2 Mile Health Walk will be for health and fun; no awards will be given for the 2 Mi. walk._



PARKING:

Plenty of parking is available at _Heritage Park_ and the adjoining _Riverview Park_ near the ballfields.
