With aid stations and amenities available until 2:30 PM, participants will have 5.5 hours to complete the race at a leisurely pace of approximately 24 minutes per mile. RACE DAY IS ON! SEE YOU SUNDAY MAY 4TH AT POTLATCH PARK FOR THE START AND FINISH!! DUE TO THE CONSTRUCTION IN TOWN AND THE WOLFE PT. BYPASS, OUR ROUTE HAS CHANGED DRASTICALLY - CHECK OUT THE NEW MAP AND CONTACT KRC WITH ANY QUESTIONS.
This race will begin at Potlatch Park, heading north on Tongass Highway, taking 2 loops off of the highway at Pond Reef Rd and Knudson Cove Road. Racers will enjoy the water views as they head north and will cross the highway as they head back South toward the finish line. A bike path connects at Whipple Creek to reduce time on the shoulder heading South. A second highway crossing happens when approaching Totem Bight Road, bringing racers along the original finish route up Totem Bight Road to Potlach Park.
The race takes runners along beautiful vistas with tree-covered mountains along the Tongass Highway, where runners can expect to see local wildlife as well as boats streaming along the water in the narrows all along the race route.
The event is open to both RUNNERS AND WALKERS and usually features a smaller field of participants, as the race usually sees between 100 and 200 runners and walkers cross the finish line.
