Get ready for an exhilarating day of outdoor adventure at the Trail Mix Off-Road Duathlon and Mountain Bike Race taking place on Sunday, October 5, 2025, in the scenic Atwood Park Trail System in Rockford, Winnebago. This exciting event features two thrilling races: the Trail Mix duathlon, which includes a 2-mile run, a 10-mile bike ride, followed by another 2-mile run (open for individuals or teams of two), and the Half Mix duathlon with a shorter 2-mile run and 5-mile bike ride. For mountain biking enthusiasts, there are two race distances to choose from: the Competitive mountain bike race covering 20 miles and the Sport race at 10 miles.
Participants can enjoy a fabulous experience with professional chip timing and all the perks, including custom finisher medals, refreshing Purist water bottles, and delicious meals from Javis Tacos food truck, along with ice cream from Dairyh'aus on-site! The courses will be fully marked, and both runs and rides will take place on the beautiful off-road trails, making it a perfect day for adventure seekers. This year we are hosting an off-road duathlon and a mountain bike race on the same day! Two distances for each event.
The Trail Mix duathlon is a 2 mile run, 10 mile bike, 2 mile run (individual or team of 2 people, 1 runner and 1 biker)
The Half Mix duathlon is a 2 mile run and 5 mile bike.
The Trail Mix Competitive mountain bike race is 20 miles
The Trail Mix Sport mountain bike race is 10 miles.

The run loop is at https://www.strava.com/segments/29916486 and goes clockwise. The bike loop is at https://www.strava.com/segments/32772773 and goes counter-clockwise. Both courses and transition will be thoroughly marked.
All of the events are at the Atwood Park Trail System, 7074 Rydberg Rd, Rockford, IL 61109. Both runs and the ride will be on the off-road trails. A mountain bike is strongly recommended. Sign up as an individual or a team consisting of 2 people. Professional chip timing by Tri-3 Sports Timing. Your entry includes a custom finisher medal, custom Purist water bottles, your choice of meal from Javis Tacos food truck, and ice cream from Dairyh"aus on site! There's not any packet pickup to worry about ahead of time. Pre-racing meeting for the duathlon will be at 8:45am. You must be checked in before then. The MTB course will be open for pre-riding at 11a with non race course trails open all day. Pre-race meeting at 11:45a. We will cap the total duathlon entries at 75 and the total mountain bike entries at 75.
100% OF PROCEEDS FOR THE DUATHLON WILL BE DONATED TO TRAIL BUILDING AT ATWOOD PARK.

These events don't happen without volunteers. Help us with course setup or teardown Saturday or as a course marshal (point people the right way) Sunday and receive an entry into whichever event you want. It can even be transferred to somebody else. We need course setup help on Saturday, October 5th in the afternoon likely starting at 3pm or a course marshal Sunday during the event you are not doing. The race director will contact you to get you signed up for the event of your choosing.
