Join us for the exciting 5th Annual Trail of Honor Memorial Run on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in the picturesque Fort Gibson, Muskogee! This uplifting event features a USATF-certified 5K and a 1-mile fun run/walk, perfect for runners of all ages and abilities. Set against the backdrop of beautiful American flags, participants can choose to honor our veterans by carrying a flag during the race.
Starting at 8:00 AM at Legendary Fitness, this event not only promotes physical wellness but also supports an inspiring cause. The Trail of Honor initiative aims to establish 300 permanent flag poles, each adorned with a 5x8 American flag, to honor our current and past service members. With registration fees starting as low as $20 for returning runners and fun run options available, it’s a fantastic opportunity to get involved and make a difference. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or a first-time participant, come out and be part of this meaningful Memorial Day weekend tradition!

THE FORT GIBSON AMERICAN LEGION AND TRAIL OF HONOR FLAGS WILL HOST THE 5TH ANNUAL TRAIL OF HONOR 5K & FUN RUN ON MAY 24TH IN FORT GIBSON. TRAIL OF HONOR FLAGS INCORPORATED WAS FOUNDED IN 2019 TO CONTINUE AND EXPAND THE EFFORTS OF AMERICAN LEGION VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE PUT TEMPORARY FLAGS FROM HWY 62 TO THE NATIONAL MEMORIAL CEMETERY. THE GOAL IS TRAIL OF HONOR, AND THIS EVENT, IS TO MAKE THOSE FLAGS PERMANENT, WHICH WILL CONSIST OF 300 FLAG POLES EACH WITH A 5X8 AMERICAN FLAG.
RUNNERS WILL HAVE A OPTION OF CARRYING A FLAG THROUGHOUT THE RACE. WHEN REGISTERING, YOU WILL BE ASKED ABOUT THIS, SO PLEASE RESPOND WITH A YES IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CARRY A FLAG.
BY PARTICIPATING IN THIS EVENT YOU WILL HELP THIS CAUSE AND WILL HONOR OUR CURRENT AND PAST SERVICE MEMBERS AS YOU RUN THROUGH THE FLAGS ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. THIS EVENT HAS GROWN BY APPROXIMATLEY 30 TO 40 RUNNERS EACH YEAR AND OUR GOAL IS TO GET TO 500, SO THANK YOU FOR COMING BACK OR CONSIDERING THIS RUN FOR THE 1ST TIME.
