Organiser's Description
RALPH WALDO EMERSON ONCE SAID, "IT IS NOT THE LENGTH OF LIFE, BUT THE DEPTH OF LIFE."
The Tyler Greene & Taylor Grant Foundation will hold its 8th Annual Tyler &Taylor Foundation 5K in memory of Tyler. Through the generous support of participants like you, the foundation offers life-changing educational scholarships to East Paulding High School seniors and swimming lesson scholarships to local youth. These scholarships are not just financial aid, but opportunities for these young individuals to stand apart from others and make a difference in the world.
Tyler graduated from East Paulding High School in May 2016. He was a charismatic young man who aspired to become a computer programmer. Due to a tragic accident, he drowned on July 29, 2016, while attending Summer School at Harvard University.
Taylor was born with a chromosomal disorder. Doctors said that she would not walk or talk. Leonie (her mom) and Tyler learned American Sign Language to communicate with Taylor. Through their example, she has overcome the challenges told to her family about a life she could not live. She overcame them to the point that even the doctors were amazed. In 2015, Taylor received a bronze medal in her age group at the Paulding County Special Olympics Run/Walk. Many people do not know this, but Tyler named his little sister. Tyler loved and protected Taylor. He graciously accepted her disability by showing everyone that she could achieve greatness! If Taylor could do a run/walk when the doctors said she could not...YOU CAN TOO!!
The race will be held virtually again this year, offering you the convenience and flexibility to participate from anywhere, at any time. A virtual 5K is not just a running event; it's a personal challenge you can complete at your own pace, using a tracking app or device to record your time and distance. And the best part? You can submit your results online and receive a finisher's medal or other swag in the mail. It's a unique and flexible way to participate in a running event without the constraints of a traditional in-person race.
