This uplifting community event is dedicated to honoring our brave veterans while supporting military-connected students at UAB. Since its inception in 2023, the UAB Veterans Day 5K has successfully raised over $33,000 and gathered more than 1,800 participants and 200 volunteers, making a significant impact on the lives of students in need.
Starting at 8:00 AM, this 5K is open to everyone—whether you're a seasoned runner, a casual walker, or even racing with a stroller or wheelchair. Participants will receive a race shirt and a finisher medal, adding to the excitement of the day. As we celebrate the 108th anniversary of Armistice Day, let's come together to show our veterans that they are seen, valued, and supported every day. Join us on Saturday, November 14, 2026, for the 4th Annual UAB Veterans Day 5K presented by Viva Health at Railroad Park a meaningful community event dedicated to honoring those who have served and supporting the next generation of military-connected students.
Since launching in 2023, this event has raised over $33,000 and brought together more than 1,800 participants and 200 volunteers in support of UAB veteran and dependent students. Thanks to this community's generosity, we've already distributed over $9,000 in direct relief to students in need covering essentials like housing, books, and emergency expenses.
This year, we're continuing our mission with even greater purpose.
Whether you're a runner, walker, rucker, stroller, or wheelchair racer all are welcome. Lace up to celebrate the 108th anniversary of Armistice Day, and join UAB Veteran Services in continuing a proud tradition that began right here in Birmingham in 1947.
Together, let's show our veterans they are seen, valued, and supported not just on Veterans Day, but every day.
