Organiser's Description

The Vernon Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot is coming! _ARE YOU READY?_

Each year, Vernon Recreation hosts a Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot to raise funds and collect non perishables for the Harvest House Food Pantry located in Sussex, NJ. The Harvest House Community Lunch Program was established by 13 Vernon Township High School students in 1997 as the VTHS Hunger Project and is a nonprofit 501c(3) corporation that continues with its mission to provide nourishing meals in a clean, welcoming safe environment to those in need. They currently serve 50+ people _A DAY_ through a pickup and go system and together we will help them continue to meet this community need as we head into the colder months.

So, dust off your finest feathers and join the Vernon Township Board of Recreation for a breath of fresh autumn air Thanksgiving morning to hobble before you gobble. It's easy as pumpkin pie! Run or walk.... on your own, with the family or create a team with some friends - this is a fun tradition to kickoff this day of giving and benefit such a worthy cause.

Our route is a nice combination of hills and turns through a picturesque rural landscape, including a cheering section of local cows!
